In short
What are living room wall panels?
Living room wall panels are ready-finished boards fixed straight to a wall, so a TV wall or feature wall gets a marble, wood or fabric finish with no plastering or painting. Carbon Rock Board is £232 a 1220 × 2400mm board ex VAT, A1 fire rated, and three boards cover a 3.66m wide wall.
Ideas
Six living room wall panel looks.
Each one uses panels we supply. Pick the room's mood first, then the finish.
Marble behind the TV
The look people ask for most: one sequenced marble finish across the TV wall, with the joints planned around the screen's centre line.
Wood grain and wooden-look panels
Ash, oak and walnut tones on a waterproof core. The warmth of timber with nothing to oil, seal or repaint.
Fluted and slatted panels
Vertical grooves that catch the light. Ideal either side of a TV or as a half-height wall behind a sofa.
Stone and micro-cement
Quiet, matt finishes for a TV kept in art mode. Low contrast, so the screen reads as a picture when it is off.
Fabric effect
The softness of a woven wall covering on a hard, wipe-clean board. Suits a snug or a reading corner.
Metal and mirror accents
Brushed metal or mirror strips used sparingly, to frame a fire or bounce light round a north-facing room.

One wall
Panel one wall, not the whole room.
Most living rooms only need one panelled wall: the one with the TV, the fire or the sofa against it. It becomes the focal point and the other three walls stay as they are.
Our feature walls are one, two or three panels cut around your TV bracket and trimmed to finish, from £480 ex VAT, for you or your joiner to put up.
How to fit them
Fixing wall panels in a living room.
Measure the wall
Width times height, divided by the area of one board. A 1220 × 2400mm board covers 2.93m², so a 3.66m wide wall takes three.
Choose the finish
Order samples or see the boards at our Glasgow showroom. Every finish is the same price per board.
Plan the joints
Centre the joints on the TV or chimney breast, mark sockets and switches, and decide on trims for every edge.
Fix and trim
Adhesive on a flat wall, battens or a frame on an uneven one, then aluminium trims on every exposed edge.
Panel types
Which panels suit a living room.
All of them are rigid boards rather than thin cladding, so they stay flat under a downlight.

All guidesHow do you fix wall panels in a living room?
On a flat, sound wall, bond the panels with panel adhesive and hide any mechanical fixings behind the trims. On an uneven or old wall, fix timber battens or an aluminium frame first and fix the panels to that, which also leaves a void for TV and speaker cables. Start from the centre line of the TV or fireplace, not from a corner, so the joints sit symmetrically.
Can I use bathroom wall panels in a living room?
Yes. A waterproof panel works in any room, and SPC and Carbon Rock Board are made for both. The catch is thin PVC bathroom cladding: on a feature wall it follows every bump in the wall behind it and looks cheap under a downlight. For a living room, use a rigid board.
Can you panel one wall in a living room?
Yes, and it is the most common way to do it. One panelled wall behind the TV or the sofa gives the room a focal point without changing the rest. Our feature walls are one, two or three panels behind your TV, from £480 ex VAT.
What are the best wall panels for a living room?
A rigid board with a finish you will not tire of: marble, stone or wood grain behind a TV, fluted or slatted panels for texture, and a fabric effect for a softer, quieter room. Carbon Rock Board is our recommendation because it is A1 fire rated, which matters around an electric fire.
How much do living room wall panels cost?
Carbon Rock Board is £232 a 1220 × 2400mm board ex VAT, under £80 per m², the same price for every finish. A typical living room wall takes three or four boards. We fit them in Glasgow and the Central Belt at £49 per m² ex VAT.
Is wall cladding the same as wall panelling?
Near enough. Cladding usually means boards that cover a whole wall, often for protection or waterproofing; panelling usually means a decorative finish. In a living room the products overlap: the same board can clad a whole wall or panel one feature section.
Do wall panels need a flat wall?
Thin panels do; rigid boards less so. Small dips are bridged by an 8mm board, and anything worse is solved by battens or a frame rather than by plastering first. Our guide to covering uneven walls explains the options.
