How much does a media wall cost in the UK?

The wall itself

Two centre modules, built around your television and an electric fire: £1,950. This is the starting point for most living rooms and it is the wall in most of our photographs.

The same wall with a 400mm side module either side and shelves top and bottom: £2,860. With 600mm side modules: £3,430. The side modules are where the lit display niches live, so this is the step people take when they want the wall to do more than hold the television.

For a wall between 0.9 and 2 metres wide, the compact 800mm module with a large lit shelf and one wall panel is £1,375, or £1,650 with an electric fire in it. This is the cheapest way into a real media wall and it is the right answer in a flat or a snug.

Every one of those prices already includes our promotional discount, and the finish does not change them. Marble, micro-cement, wood, metal and mirror effects are all the same money. Extra wall panels are £232 each.

The fire

Except in the compact package, the fire is a separate line. The slimline LCD fire is £1,318.50. The premium heat output fire, which carries the larger heater of the two, is £1,693.80. Both are electric, so there is no flue, no chimney and no gas work to pay for.

If you already own a fire, we will build the module around it at no extra cost, as long as we have the model and the opening size before the wall is made.

Delivery and installation

Delivery is £165 per order, anywhere in mainland UK, in custom-made wooden boxes. Installation starts at £233 and rises with the number of modules; a typical living room wall is fitted in two to four hours by two people.

You can also take the wall supply-only and have your own joiner fit it. Plenty of customers do, and the modules are made to go up with a level, a drill and a second pair of hands.

A worked example

A three-metre wall with two centre modules and two 400mm side modules, a slimline fire, delivered and installed: £2,860 for the wall, £1,318.50 for the fire, £165 delivery and £233 installation. That is £4,577 plus VAT, or about £5,492 including VAT.

The television, the soundbar and the electrician are not in that figure. Budget for a fused spur behind the fire and a socket behind the television if they are not already there.

What makes one wall dearer than another

Module count, and almost nothing else. Each additional module is more frame, more panel, more shelving and more labour, which is why the ladder above climbs in steps rather than smoothly. A wider wall needs more modules; a wall with display niches either side needs the side modules that carry them.

What does not move the price is the finish. A white marble effect, a bronze micro-cement and a gold mirror are the same money on the same wall, because they are all the same panel with a different face. On an on-site build the opposite is true, and that is usually where a joiner's quotation and ours diverge.

Lighting, sockets, a soundbar recess and a motorised bracket are all separate lines, each priced on its own. None of them is compulsory, and the wall works without any of them.

What is not included, ever

The television. The soundbar. The electrical first fix. We would rather say so three times on a pricing page than once in a quotation, because every one of those has surprised somebody who was comparing us with a quote that buried them.

If it does not — a wider wall, more side modules, no fire, an awkward chimney breast — the planner prices a custom layout as you build it, using the same engine our own team quotes from. It takes about two minutes and it does not ask for your details until you want the quotation emailed to you.
